Diamondback Energy recently completed the third year of its Rolling Barista program supporting transition students from Midland ISD through workplace training and community engagement opportunities.

Students participating in the program provide coffee and breakfast service to employees at the company’s headquarters while building social interaction and workplace readiness skills during the school year, according to information shared on Diamondback Energy’s Facebook page.

The Rolling Baristas raised more than $16,000 in tips during the program’s third year, according to Diamondback Energy. The company stated the funds directly support transition programs at Midland High School and Legacy High School.

Transition programs within Midland ISD help students with disabilities and delayed learning needs prepare for employment, independent living and adult life skills after graduation, according to Midland ISD information.

Students participating in transition programs often face additional barriers entering the workforce after graduation, including communication challenges, limited job experience and reduced access to employment opportunities, according to Midland ISD information.

The Rolling Barista program allows students to gain hands-on experience in customer service, teamwork, workplace communication, time management and daily job responsibilities within a professional business environment.

The program also provides students opportunities to build confidence and strengthen social interaction skills through consistent engagement with employees and workplace routines, according to company information.

“We’re so proud of the work they put in this school year and can’t wait to welcome them back in the fall,” Diamondback Energy stated in a recent Facebook post.

The program is part of Diamondback Energy’s continued community involvement efforts supporting education, workforce readiness and student development throughout Midland and the Permian Basin, according to company information.
