Midland High names Ray Johnson boys basketball head coach
Midland High School selected Ray Johnson as the next head coach of the Bulldogs boys basketball program, according to information shared on Midland ISD’s Facebook page.
Johnson replaces former head coach Brad Reese following Reese’s departure to Crandall.
Johnson has worked with Midland ISD for more than a decade and spent the past three years as an assistant coach for the Legacy High School boys basketball program, according to Midland ISD’s social media post.
Johnson is also a Midland High graduate and will now lead his alma mater in his first head coaching position.
The Bulldogs finished the 2025-2026 season with a 9-24 overall record. Midland High has not advanced past the bi-district round of the playoffs since 2019.
Johnson takes over the program as Midland High prepares for the upcoming basketball season and continues rebuilding efforts within the program.
