Midland Hispanic Chamber brings Mex-Tex Family Fiesta back May 30

By Midland Times

The Midland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is preparing for its largest event of the year as the annual Mex-Tex Family Fiesta returns Saturday, May 30, at the Midland County Horseshoe Pavilion.

Now in its 39th year, the event will feature live music, a cook-off competition, a car show, food vendors and family activities. Organizers say proceeds from the fiesta support bilingual business education, financial literacy programs and community outreach efforts through the Midland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

“The Mex-Tex Family Fiesta is one of the most important days of our year; it is more than a fundraiser, as a celebration of who we are as a community,” said Marissa Salgado, chair of the Midland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and financial adviser at Edward Jones Investments. “Everything we raise goes directly back into supporting local businesses and creating real opportunities for Hispanic entrepreneurs in Midland.”

The entertainment lineup includes Regional Mexican, Tejano and Latin music acts, including De Parranda, Milla 22, Asalto, Emilio, the Officio Emilio Tribute Band featuring Diego and Emilio IV, Sammy Arriaga and Angelina Victoria.

The fiesta’s cook-off competition returns with entries competing in three categories: elote, brisket and menudo. The top three finishers in each category will receive prizes, while attendees can vote for a People’s Choice winner.

A car show featuring classic cars, trucks and motorcycles also will be part of the event.

Organizers said guests can expect a full day of activities, including local food trucks, vendors, seating areas and cooling zones throughout the venue.
