Rays of Hope Children’s Grief Centre is seeking volunteers to support children and teens experiencing grief, loss and major life transitions through programs offered in Midland.

Volunteer training is scheduled for May 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Rays of Hope Children’s Grief Centre. The training prepares volunteers to support youth in safe support environments, and no previous experience is required, organizers stated.

The organization serves children and families impacted by death, divorce, separation, foster care and other difficult life transitions, according to information shared by Rays of Hope.

Rays of Hope Children’s Grief Centre operates as a community outreach program of Hospice of Midland.

HopeWorks, one of the organization’s programs, helps guide children through stages of grief using peer interaction, emotional expression and coping skill development through creative arts activities, according to the organization’s website.

The organization also hosts Creative Wednesdays from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., providing open family activities including crafts, music and art activities in a relaxed environment. No preregistration is required for the weekly sessions, organizers stated.

Another program, Fostering Hope, provides peer support specifically for children currently involved in or previously connected to the foster care system, according to the organization’s website.

Volunteers play an important role in helping children and families navigate grief and life transitions throughout the community, organizers stated.

Registration information for volunteer training is available through the Rays of Hope website or by calling 432-684-5437.
