Bass Pro Shops has officially opened its doors in Odessa, marking a significant development in the region’s retail and outdoor recreation sectors. The opening was celebrated with a grand event dedicated to conservation.
According to a City of Odessa Meta post, city leaders, including Councilmen Eddie Mitchell, Gilbert Vasquez, and Steve Thompson, participated in the festivities to welcome this highly anticipated business. The new store is located along State Highway 191 between Yukon Road and Mission Boulevard in Midland County, near the Cinergy Family Entertainment Center. Spanning over 110,000 square feet, it is now the largest Bass Pro Shops in West Texas. This extensive retail space offers outdoor gear, boats, and apparel, providing a substantial boost to Odessa’s economy and enhancing its appeal as a regional destination.
“It brought jobs here — that’s one of the main things we want to do: help create opportunities so that people can go to work,” said District 1 Councilman Eddie Mitchell. Thompson added that “people here are very adamant hunters, fishermen, and everything else, so it’s really exciting!”
Vasquez noted that the new store will not only serve Odessa residents but also attract shoppers from surrounding areas. “It’s going to attract a lot of people from outside Odessa to come shop — and leave their money here,” he said. With new jobs, visitors, and energy flowing into the city, Bass Pro Shops’ arrival marks another milestone in Odessa’s ongoing growth and commitment to celebrating the West Texas outdoor lifestyle.
