Mayor Lori Blong attended the Midland Chamber’s grand opening celebration for the Hampton Inn Midland West Thursday.

The opening of the Hampton Inn Midland West is seen as significant for local economic development and hospitality options. The facility represents expansion of a company that has grown up right alongside Midland, Blong said in a Facebook post Saturday according to Blong.

The Hampton Inn Midland West brings the number of properties owned by Insignia Hospitality Group in the city to five. IHG opened its first hotel in Midland in 1998 and has assembled a portfolio of 25 hotels across Texas, New Mexico and Northern California. “Their family has stayed committed to this community ever since, serving on local boards, supporting nonprofits and investing in our city… Congratulations to the entire Insignia team. Thank you for choosing to build here, serve here and help shape the experience of everyone who visits our community,” Blong said according to Blong.

The chamber held a mixer from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. that gave attendees an opportunity to network, enjoy refreshments and win door prizes. The Hampton Inn Midland West is located near the intersection of State Highway 191 and Loop 250, less than a mile from the Scharbauer Sports Complex and the Midland Athletics Syndicate according to the Midland Chamber.

Blong’s remarks highlighted both Insignia Hospitality Group’s long-standing presence in Midland and its ongoing investment in local infrastructure.
