Christi Craddick, a Texas Railroad Commissioner, outlined her qualifications and priorities for the position of Texas Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in a series of posts on February 19, 2026.

In her first post, Craddick emphasized her experience managing significant economic sectors. On February 19, she stated, “I’ve overseen nearly a third of Texas’ economy as Railroad Commissioner, managing complex systems and billions in impact. That experience is exactly what prepares me to serve as Texas’ CFO.”

Addressing ongoing early voting across the state later that day, Craddick highlighted voter concerns and positioned herself as an experienced candidate. She wrote on February 19, “Early voting is ongoing across Texas.

Texans are fed up with waste, rising property taxes, and ideological spending hidden in local budgets. The Comptroller’s office matters more than ever.

I’m the only candidate in this race who has actually done this work before, and won”.

Craddick also called for increased accountability within the Comptroller’s office. In another February 19 post she said, “Before a single new dollar is spent, the Comptroller’s office itself should be audited. Texans deserve to know their money is being handled honestly, efficiently, and with discipline. I’ve done this kind of oversight before, and I’ll start with it on day one.”

As Railroad Commissioner—a role that operates independently within the Texas state government—Craddick has been involved in overseeing oil field cleanup and groundwater monitoring efforts statewide (official website). The Commission maintains district offices throughout Texas to support its field operations and regulates energy sectors including oil, natural gas production, pipeline transportation, and mining activities (official website). Its regulatory scope has evolved over time; notably expanding into oil and gas conservation since 1931 (official website).

The agency seeks to ensure safety and effectiveness in these industries while influencing related policy development (official website). As such, leadership roles within the Commission often involve oversight of complex systems impacting significant portions of the state’s economy.
