Christi Craddick, Texas Railroad Commissioner, outlined her priorities and fiscal approach in a series of social media posts between February 20 and 21, 2026. Craddick, who is seeking the position of Texas Comptroller, emphasized efficiency, oversight, and taxpayer accountability as central to her platform.
On February 20, Craddick posted: “Conservatives don’t believe in letting government grow unchecked. We believe in efficiency, oversight, and doing the job right the first time, and that’s the mindset I’ll bring to the Comptroller’s office.”
She continued her messaging on February 21 by highlighting her record as Railroad Commissioner: “Taxpayer dollars aren’t government money, they’re your money. As Railroad Commissioner, I demanded accountability and protected taxpayers while supporting Texas’ economic engine. As Comptroller, I’ll bring that same discipline to every dollar coming in and going out.” The Texas Railroad Commission operates as an independent regulatory agency within state government and oversees energy and mining activities across Texas (official website). Its responsibilities include ensuring safe practices in oil, natural gas, pipeline transportation, mining operations, environmental protection through oil field cleanup and groundwater monitoring (official website), and maintaining district offices statewide for field support.
In a third post on February 21 about early voting in Texas elections, Craddick wrote: “Early voting is open all weekend! Texans are tired of watching their tax dollars diverted to woke programs, bloated bureaucracies, and cities that undermine law enforcement. I believe audits come first, in accountability always, and that taxpayer dollars should serve Texans,”
The Texas Railroad Commission has expanded its regulatory authority over time—for example through oil and gas conservation measures since 1931 (official website). As a sitting commissioner responsible for both regulatory oversight of critical industries such as oilfield operations and fiscal stewardship within state agencies (official website), Craddick’s campaign statements highlight a continuity of focus on discipline with public funds.
