Texas Governor Greg Abbott has used his social media platform to address concerns about drug cartel violence and border security, as well as political divisions in the state. Abbott’s recent posts focus on coordination with federal agencies, deployment of state law enforcement resources, and criticism of Democratic positions on immigration.

On February 23, 2026, Abbott posted: “I remain in contact with the Texas DPS on the latest developments regarding drug cartel violence and security concerns in Mexico. We are closely coordinating with @StateDept and @FBI as this situation unfolds.

I urge all Texans in Mexico to follow guidance of U.S. officials and https://t.co/wnqjld0T8s

The following day, February 24, he wrote: “I’ve deployed DPS Troopers, Texas Rangers, and Special Agents to secure the border from cartel violence before it reaches our communities.

The Texas Fusion Center & DPS Homeland Security Division are working with federal law enforcement and agencies to monitor suspicious”

On February 25, Abbott commented on political differences: “Last night Democrats showed that the midterms are about two diametrically opposed viewpoints: COMMON SENSE vs. INSANITY.

When asked to stand with American citizens or illegal immigrants, democrats chose illegal immigrants.

We see that same contrast with Democrats in Texas.”

Greg Abbott has served as governor since his election in 2014 and leads an office based primarily at the State Insurance Building in Austin. The Office of Texas Governor Greg Abbott oversees a range of responsibilities statewide, including job creation initiatives, economic opportunity programs, education policy enhancements, protection of individual liberties, parental empowerment efforts in schooling decisions, and measures aimed at securing the southern border (official website). Under Abbott’s leadership, Texas has been recognized for its job growth and record employment levels. In addition to his gubernatorial duties, Abbott was named among TIME’s 100 Most Influential People in 2024.
