Greg Abbott, the 48th governor of Texas, used his social media platform to address several issues and events relevant to the state in early April 2026.
On April 1, Abbott warned Texans about impending weather changes by posting: “Something new is coming to Texas. RAIN. It will get serious in some places across the state. Be careful.”
The following day, on April 2, Abbott highlighted Texas’s role in space exploration with a message referencing NASA’s Artemis mission: “Houston, we have liftoff. Mission Control is guiding Artemis back to the Moon—right from Texas. Texas drives innovation. Texas leads the future.”
On April 3, which coincided with Good Friday, Abbott shared a religious reflection: “On this Good Friday, we come to the cross, and remember the ultimate sacrifice Jesus made to save us all from sin. ‘For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life.’ John 3:16”
Abbott leads an office that serves as the executive branch of state government and provides leadership throughout Texas while promoting economic opportunity, education and public safety (official website). The office also supports programs for women and people with disabilities through various commissions and collaborates with businesses and local governments for statewide growth initiatives (official website). The Governor’s Mansion in Austin has been home to Texas governors since 1856 and stands as one of the oldest continuously occupied governor’s residences in the United States (official website).
