A major piece of downtown Midland’s long-envisioned convention district is moving forward as construction begins on the Omni Midland Hotel.
The project is expected to expand the city’s hospitality and meetings infrastructure. Local stakeholders say the hotel will serve as a catalyst for attracting larger conventions and events, supporting economic growth, and reinforcing Midland’s position as a regional hub in the Permian Basin, according to a news release from Omni Hotels and Resorts.
According to a LinkedIn post, the project is being developed by Omni Hotels and Resorts in partnership with Midland Downtown Renaissance, LP. The full-service hotel will feature 143 rooms and approximately 16,000 square feet of meeting and event space, including a ballroom and flexible conference areas. Additional amenities include multiple dining venues anchored by Bob’s Steak & Chop House, a rooftop pool, spa, and other upscale features. The hotel is located near the George H. W. Bush Convention Center to directly support convention activity and increase overnight visitation.
The design team includes HKS Architects as architect of record, Looney & Associates leading interiors, and The Design Agency overseeing food and beverage concept design. According to the same LinkedIn post, this collaboration aims to create a destination property that reflects Midland’s identity while meeting modern traveler expectations.
The hotel was first announced in 2024 through a development agreement. It is positioned as part of downtown Midland’s ongoing redevelopment efforts.
