Midland-based The Kent Companies has announced the acquisition of B&B Petroleum, a Ponchatoula, Louisiana-based fuel and convenience store operator. This acquisition marks the family-owned firm’s expansion into its ninth state of operation.
According to a news release, the deal includes 15 Chevron-branded convenience stores, along with several Subway and Red Bird Café locations. All these will be rebranded under the Kent Kwik name. The move strengthens The Kent Companies’ presence across the Southeast and reflects its long-term strategy to extend beyond its Texas roots. “We are thrilled to officially enter the Louisiana market and continue growing the Kent Kwik footprint across the Southeast,” said Bill Kent, owner and CEO. “B&B Petroleum has built a strong reputation for quality and community, which perfectly aligns with our family values and brand promise of ‘Making Your Life Easy.'”
With the addition of these Louisiana locations, The Kent Companies now operates 130 company-owned convenience stores and travel centers across nine states while supplying fuel to more than 150 dealer sites across six states. The company remains a proud Chevron Texaco brand partner and continues to emphasize operational integrity and service excellence in all markets.
B&B Petroleum owners Art Bonneval and Jay Barzenick said that the sale represents a positive step forward for their business and employees. “We are proud of what our team has accomplished and believe this acquisition with The Kent Companies aligns with our values,” they said in a joint statement. “We leave with immense gratitude and pride in all that we’ve achieved together.”
