The Midland College Lady Chaps volleyball team faces a critical challenge in their regular-season finale on Saturday, November 1. They will host Clarendon College at 2 p.m. for Sophomore Day.

According to a news release, the Lady Chaps must win this match and rely on results from other conference games to maintain their playoff aspirations. Midland College is currently tied at 5-8 in conference play with Amarillo College, Clarendon College, and New Mexico Junior College, all vying for the final postseason spot. To advance to the NJCAA (National Junior College Athletic Association) Region 5 Tournament next week, the Lady Chaps need a victory over Clarendon while both Amarillo and New Mexico Junior College must lose their respective final regular-season matches.

The team is seeking redemption following a recent defeat against New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell. In that game, Ipek Kusoglu and Luisina Sandrone led the offensive effort with 10 and nine kills, respectively. Freshman setter Mia Bell contributed significantly with 21 assists, 12 digs, and three kills. Ksenija Sokic played a crucial role in defense with a team-high of 15 digs.

Saturday’s match will also mark a farewell for eight Midland College sophomores — Sokic, Eduarda Silva, Hailey Reyes, Martina Frangella, Jordan Eager, Kusoglu, Noa Reculard, and Sandrone — who will be honored in a post-match ceremony. Fans unable to attend can watch the game live at tsbnsports.com.
