Three Legacy High School students represented the Midland Independent School District (ISD) at the 5th Annual Permian Basin Education Leadership Summit. The event gathered education leaders from West Texas and Southeast New Mexico to discuss the future of learning.
According to a Meta post from the district, students Kaleigh Builta, Natalee Primera, and Tucker Tranum participated in a student panel that focused on embracing innovation and integrating technology and artificial intelligence into education.
The summit was hosted by the Permian Strategic Partnership (PSP) and the Education Partnership of the Permian Basin (EPPB). It brought together educators, business leaders, and policymakers to exchange ideas and share success stories that are shaping classrooms in the region. According to PSP, the event provided a platform for addressing key challenges and opportunities in education through collaboration and regional engagement.
“Empowering educators and fostering a collaborative environment is crucial to developing innovative solutions and addressing the education challenges in our region,” said Tracee Bentley, president and CEO of PSP. Bentley added that by taking a regional approach to education solutions, they can build a stronger system that prepares students for a brighter future.
The summit featured discussions on energy education, workforce development, rural collaboration, and human capital strategies. Adrian Vega of EPPB said that the event continues to strengthen partnerships across the Permian Basin. “Together, we are building upon the strong foundation of our previous Summits and expanding our capabilities to strengthen education across the entire region,” Vega said.
