Mayor Lori Blong said she rereads “The Hiding Place” by Dutch author Corrie ten Boom every year.

According to a Facebook post shared on Saturday, Blong added that the book is one of her favorites. She admitted that due to frequent readings, her copy required replacement.

“The Hiding Place” narrates the experiences of a Dutch woman and her family during World War II. “In the middle of fear and loss, they learned what it looks like to love and care for people, even when it costs you something,” Blong said.

Blong purchased a new copy at a local Barnes & Noble and encouraged the public to read it as well. “Barnes & Noble had several copies in stock when I checked,” she said. “I hope you’ll read it with me. If you do, let me know what you think!”
