MC Board appoints Jacobe Kendrick to fill trustee vacancy

The Midland College Board of Trustees unanimously voted March 17 to appoint Jacobe Kendrick to Place 3, filling the seat vacated by retiring trustee G. Larry Lawrence.

Kendrick’s appointment comes as the board seeks to maintain continuity and support for its mission following Lawrence’s retirement. College officials said Kendrick’s background and ties to the community position him to support the institution’s mission and workforce development efforts. Kendrick will be sworn in during the board’s next regular meeting scheduled for April 21, according to a news release.

According to a news release, Kendrick, a Midland native and U.S. Air Force veteran, brings experience in military leadership, business, and workforce-focused industries. A graduate of Robert E. Lee High School, he attended the United States Air Force Academy, where he played Division I football and earned his degree in 2007, before serving 10 years in the Air Force, including assignments in South Korea and Florida as a Cyber Operations Officer according to Midland College.

The news release noted that following his military service, Kendrick returned to Midland, where he joined his family’s oilfield services business and later built a career as a licensed Texas real estate broker and business intermediary in the Permian Basin according to Midland College.
