Midland College celebrated a significant milestone with the grand opening of its newly renovated Tennis & Pickleball Center on Saturday, November 8.

According to a Facebook post by Midland College (MC), the event featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony with remarks from MC President Dr. Damon Kennedy and Midland College Tennis Association (MCTA) Board Member Karan Eves. Eves emphasized the project’s success as a result of strong community partnerships and the growing popularity of racquet sports across the Permian Basin.

The school’s website notes that the upgraded public facility, managed by the MCTA, now features 14 tennis courts and 12 pickleball courts. All courts were refurbished over the summer of 2025 through generous community donations. Four of the tennis courts are equipped with LED lighting to support early morning and evening play.

Open to the entire Midland community, the center serves local schools, community groups such as the MC Junior Tennis Academy, and visiting players through tournament hosting. Court reservations are available online through the MCTA website. College officials thanked donors, MCTA partners, and attendees for supporting what they described as a “shared investment in recreation, fitness, and community engagement.”
