The Midland College Chaparrals men’s golf team concluded its fall 2025 season with a commendable fourth-place finish at the La Tour Intercollegiate in Louisiana.

According to a news release, the two-day event was hosted by Nicholls State University at La Tour Golf Course and featured 14 teams, including 13 from NCAA Division I and one from Division II. Midland College was the only two-year college participating. East Texas A&M University secured the team title with a score of 827 (-37), followed by South Dakota at 836 (-28) and Houston Christian at 839 (-25). The Chaparrals finished just outside the top three with a score of 841 (-23). Coach Walt Williams said that competing against top NCAA programs continues to prepare his team for national-level National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) competition in the spring.

The release highlighted that Midland College’s standout performance came from sophomore Scott Spark, who tied for first place with East Texas A&M’s Janis Erll after rounds of 68-70-65, totaling 203 (-13). Spark, a returning NJCAA All-American and member of the 2025 national championship team, won the individual title on the second playoff hole, marking his first win of the season. He had previously finished as runner-up at the Grier Jones Shocker Invitational hosted by Wichita State.

Freshman Oskar Falshoj contributed an 11th-place finish for the Chaparrals, while returners Reuben Harvey and Hunter Welch tied for 25th place, and Leo Powell finished in 43rd place. Louisiana native Sam Broussard, competing individually, placed 67th. With the fall season now complete, the Chaparrals will focus on training and preparation for their spring schedule, where they are expected to begin as the No. 1 team in the NJCAA.
