Midland College has announced a series of upcoming tours for its Pre-K Academy, offering families a firsthand look at its early childhood programs.

According to a news release, the tours are scheduled for March 18, March 25, April 8, and April 25 from 4:30 to 5 p.m. These sessions allow parents to explore the facility and meet the educators behind the curriculum. The academy serves children who turn three or four by September 1, focusing on creating a nurturing environment that bridges the gap between early play and kindergarten readiness.

The program offers a flexible enrollment model to meet the diverse needs of the Midland community. While state-funded Pre-K is available for qualifying families, the academy also accepts tuition-paying students at a rate of $700 per month. Shelly Haney, Dean of Education at Midland College, emphasizes that “the academy’s mission is to provide a supportive, family-centered atmosphere where experienced teachers build the foundational skills necessary for long-term academic success.”

The news release noted that the Pre-K Academy is designed for working parents and provides comprehensive support beyond standard classroom hours. After-school care is available until 5:30 p.m., and the school day includes breakfast, lunch, and snacks for all students. To ease the burden on families, Haney says “the academy provides all necessary school supplies; parents are only asked to send their children with a backpack and a blanket for nap time.”

These high-quality learning environments are made possible through strong community partnerships and a state-approved, evidence-based curriculum. Families interested in joining the academy are encouraged to attend a tour to review eligibility requirements and prepare for the enrollment process as applications open on April 1. By expanding access to early education, Midland College continues to invest in the future of the city’s youngest learners.
