Midland College has reported its highest fall enrollment in its 50-year history, with 7,336 students enrolled for Fall 2025. This announcement was made by Vice President of Strategy and Analytics Tom Glenn during the October 14 Board of Trustees meeting.

According to a news release, this milestone surpasses the previous record of 7,195 students set in 2010 and marks two consecutive years of double-digit growth under President Dr. Damon Kennedy. Since Kennedy’s arrival in 2023, enrollment has increased by more than 1,800 students — a 33% overall rise. “This milestone reflects the hard work of the amazing employees at Midland College as well as the incredible partnerships between our college, K–12, business and industry, philanthropy, and the Midland community,” Kennedy said. He further emphasized their commitment to expanding opportunities for students in the region.

Unlike the record set in 2010, which was mainly driven by visiting students during the winter break, this year’s growth is attributed to substantial increases in both dual credit and traditional post-high school enrollment. The news release highlights that a key factor has been the college’s no-cost dual credit initiative launched in Fall 2024 in partnership with the Midland Independent School District and other area Independent School Districts (ISDs). This program has resulted in a 60% increase in dual credit participation, with about half of those students attending classes on campus.

Traditional enrollment has also grown by 25%, reflecting heightened interest in academic transfer and workforce training programs. Alongside record enrollment figures, student success is reportedly on the rise as well; Midland College awarded 1,358 degrees and certificates during the 2024–25 academic year. “We’re not merely growing our enrollment,” Kennedy said. “We’re growing our impact.”
