Midland Animal Services reported an 82% live release rate for dogs and cats in February, marking the highest February rate in the past four years. The department managed 311 animal intakes during the month, with strays making up 264 of those cases.

Rescue organizations contributed significantly by facilitating 126 transfers in February. Midland Animal Services also completed 75 adoptions and recorded eight animals returned to their owners. These outcomes contributed to an average length of stay of 6.36 days for animals at the shelter, which is the lowest monthly average over the last four years.

Of the 49 animals euthanized in February, seven were due to space constraints, while others were euthanized for medical reasons, behavior issues, or quality-of-life concerns.
