The Midland Chamber has recognized Community National Bank (CNB) and MTCU as recipients of the 2025 Heart of Midland Awards. CNB received the Large Business Award, while MTCU was honored with the Small Business Award.
The announcements were made via the chamber’s Facebook page.
According to an October 22 Facebook post, CNB earned the large business accolade, which is presented to entities with a workforce of 51 employees or more. The chamber highlighted CNB’s “steadfast dedication to community well-being and philanthropy that reflects the very spirit of Midland.”
“A true hometown institution, CNB continues to demonstrate what it means to invest locally, not only in business but in people,” the chamber said.
The chamber further noted that CNB contributed $300,000 to Midland Memorial Hospital’s “Campaign for Tomorrow.” This initiative supports projects aimed at expanding hospital capacity, enhancing infusion and endoscopy services, developing a new outpatient pharmacy and simulation training center, and strengthening overall access to healthcare.
CNB’s 2025 Community Outreach Program was also spotlighted for its involvement in various local causes and volunteer initiatives such as Meals On Wheels, Keep Midland Beautiful, and local job fairs.
“Through charitable giving, volunteerism and leadership, Community National Bank continually strengthens the quality of life across Midland and the greater Permian Basin,” said the chamber.
For businesses employing 50 people or less, MTCU was recognized with the Heart of Midland – Small Business accolade. In an October 23 Facebook post, the chamber described MTCU as a steadfast partner to the local education community over the past quarter-century.
“Their commitment to students, teachers and families extends well beyond financial services,” said the chamber. This includes hosting financial literacy fairs, providing classroom grants, sponsoring school programs, and creating opportunities for hands-on learning.
Both Dr. Stephanie Howard from Midland Independent School District and Ariel Elliott from Greenwood Independent School District praised MTCU’s investment in Midland’s youth according to the post.
The awardees will be celebrated at the 2025 Annual Meeting & Awards Dinner on November 10 at Bush Convention Center. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m., followed by a cocktail hour before the main program begins at 6:30 p.m. Sponsorships and tickets are available until November 5.
