Midland College held an induction ceremony on February 23, 2026, welcoming 31 new members into the Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society. The event recognized students for their academic achievement and leadership at the two-year college level.

Founded in 1918, Phi Theta Kappa is recognized as a leading honor society for students at two-year institutions. The organization promotes academic success and offers opportunities for members to develop leadership and service skills.

The new inductees were chosen based on their academic performance and commitment to service. They now join a network of scholars dedicated to higher education excellence. Membership in PTK provides avenues for leadership growth, scholarships, and involvement in community initiatives.

“We are proud to celebrate these students and their commitment to academic excellence,” said Dr. Terry Gilmour, Advisor and Division 1 Coordinator for Phi Theta Kappa. “As we celebrate 50 years of Phi Theta Kappa at Midland College, it’s especially meaningful to welcome a new group of scholars who will carry forward the tradition of leadership and service that has defined our chapter for decades.”

Faculty, staff, and families attended the ceremony honoring the following students:

Toluwalope Abegunde, Frannevic Alcala, Ruby Anaya, Luke Bobo, Ava Burgess, Ashley Burks, Maria Carrasquero, Jasmin Castro, Ekenedilichukwu Chiadi, Caleigh Cooley, Rachel Duerto, Andi Edgar, Skylar Finlayson, Emma Garza, Cynthia Hill, Stacey Hoffman, Naomi Jones, Nancy Jordan, Stephanie Keith, Zing Len, Iliana McEwan, Mia Martinez, Ruby Martinez, Lisa Montoya, Adelina Noriega, Madison Ortez, Elizabeth Ortiz, Nall Parker, Ovya Rajamanickam, Mohammed Sanusi and Faith Tchapnga.
