Midland College’s Helen L. Greathouse Children’s Center will host Baby Day on Saturday, April 18, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Pre-K Academy, inviting families from the Permian Basin to celebrate early childhood development.

The event is designed to highlight the importance of a child’s first three years and will feature hands-on activities such as sensory play, storytelling, movement, music sessions like Bonding Beats and Baby Yoga, as well as interactive stations including Building Blocks and Animal Safari. The event is free and open to all families.

In addition to these activities, attendees can access information and resources provided by Midland College programs and local partners such as healthcare providers and family support organizations. Presentations throughout the morning will focus on nurturing healthy growth in young children. The celebration is held in partnership with First3Years and aims to connect caregivers with practical tools for supporting their children’s development.

“Baby Day is a wonderful opportunity for families to connect, learn, and engage with their children in meaningful ways,” said Shelly Haney, Associate Vice President of Early Childhood and Dean of Education at Midland College. “The first three years of life are foundational for brain development, and events like this help empower caregivers with the tools, resources, and confidence to support their child’s growth from the very beginning.”
