Midland Community Theatre is presenting Giant, a stage adaptation of the novel by Giant, beginning Friday, according to the theatre’s website.

The production follows a Texas ranching family whose lives change after oil is discovered on their land, addressing generational shifts involving wealth, family relationships, land ownership and racism in early- to mid-20th century Texas.

Performances run Feb. 6 through March 7 on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Showtimes include 7:30 p.m. evening performances and 2:30 p.m. matinees. The production is rated for preteens and up due to mild violence and themes related to racism.

Tickets are available through the theatre’s box office at (432) 570-4111 or online at mctmidland.org, according to the website.

According to its website, Midland Community Theatre has served the Midland community since 1946, offering live theatre productions, arts education, and volunteer opportunities for residents of all ages. The theatre presents musicals, dramas, comedies and youth productions each season and is a member of the American Association of Community Theatre.

The theatre operates at 2000 W. Wadley Ave. and includes multiple performance spaces, including Davis Theatre I and Mabee Theatre II. Midland Community Theatre also hosts the annual Summer Mummers melodrama series. Its box office is open Tuesday through Friday from noon to 5 p.m., with extended hours on show days, according to the website.
