Midland Fire Department reports slight increase in February calls for service

The Midland Fire Department reported on March 19 that its total number of calls for service in February rose slightly compared to the same month last year, with emergency medical services (EMS) calls driving the increase.

The data shows that the department responded to 1,804 runs in February, up from 1,793 in February 2025. EMS calls increased from 1,319 to 1,355 during this period. Fire-related calls within city limits also saw a small rise from 69 to 75, while other types of calls decreased from 405 to 374.

Outside city limits, fire department responses dropped overall. The number of fire calls to the county fell from 35 in February 2025 to 26 this year. EMS calls outside city limits increased slightly from 222 to 232, but other types of runs declined sharply from 75 to 34.
