Midland Health employees wore red Friday to spread awareness about American Heart Month.
According to a Facebook post by Midland Health, the initiative aimed not only to inform the public about American Heart Month but also to highlight the prevalence of heart disease. The post said that nearly half of women in the United States suffer from cardiovascular disease, with expectations for this figure to increase.
“At Midland Health, we know that true heart health involves a spectrum of care,” the post said.
Midland Health’s comprehensive approach to heart care includes consultations with staff at Permian Cardiology and advanced surgical procedures at the Heart and Vascular Institute. “We pride ourselves on offering exceptional, comprehensive heart care for Midland,” it continued.
Preventive measures are also emphasized through outpatient rehabilitation provided by the Lifestyle Medicine Center. The Pritikin Intensive Cardiac Rehab program offers a noninvasive method to reverse heart disease through dietary and lifestyle changes.
According to the American Heart Association, President Lyndon B. Johnson first proclaimed American Heart Month in 1964 as a national call for citizens to take charge of their heart health.
