Midland Health has offered patients a complimentary resource for medical advice in its 68-NURSE call service.
The service is designed to provide residents with access to professional medical guidance without cost. It aims to help callers determine the most appropriate healthcare option for their needs, potentially reducing unnecessary visits and wait times at emergency departments.
A Facebook post shared by Midland Memorial Hospital Tuesday explained the process of using 68-NURSE. When a person calls 855-686-8773, they are connected to a local nurse who can address any medical-related questions they may have. “68 Nurse can save you time and money by directing you to the most appropriate healthcare option, whether it is a neighborhood clinic, urgent care center, emergency room or just staying home,” the post said according to Midland Memorial Hospital.
According to a blog about 68-NURSE on the Midland Health website, aside from medical advice, callers can also receive help with medication questions, home care advice, and local resources offered for various healthcare conditions. “Depending on your condition, you may be able to wait until a provider opens during normal business hours and prevent costly, long waits in the Emergency Department,” Brandi McDonald, the blog’s author, writes according to Midland Health.
68-NURSE additionally allows people to send images to the call center. “The nurses can send secure links where you can post images such as a rash,” the blog said. “The nurse can review the image and give you recommendations” according to Midland Health.
