Midland Health is celebrating National Donate Life Month throughout April.
National Donate Life Month was established in 2003 by non-profit organization Donate Life America and its partnering organizations. “We honor the people who have given the gift of life through organ, eye and tissue donation,” the organization said. “We also celebrate the lives that have been saved and healed because of a donor’s generosity,” according to Donate Life America.
According to a Facebook post Midland Memorial Hospital shared Monday, National Donate Life Month intends to raise awareness to organ donation and the role of an organ donor. “We celebrate and honor our organ donors and those who are recipients of donations,” Midland Health said in the post.
This year’s theme uses trees to illustrate life and connection, DLA said. In 2025, more than 49,000 transplants occurred with 23,788 donors. Midland Health encourages people to learn more about organ donation and register as donors, according to Donate Life America.
The month-long observance provides an opportunity for individuals and organizations to highlight the importance of registering as an organ donor.
