Midland Health participated in the Great American Shakeout on Thursday, an event recognized as one of the largest earthquake drills in the United States.

According to a post shared on Midland Memorial Hospital’s (MMH) Facebook page, a practice disaster drill was conducted to prepare for potential earthquake disasters in the region. The hospital also provided a link to the Earthquake Country Alliance, which outlines seven steps to earthquake safety.

“Have you prepared? Take time with your family today to make your earthquake plans,” MMH said.

The Great American Shakeout is part of International Shakeout Day, during which millions worldwide engage in earthquake drills at work, school, or home at 10:16 a.m. local time.

According to Shakeout organizers, over 19.4 million people in the U.S. and more than 58.4 million globally participated in this year’s event.
