Midland Health Services announced on March 31 that it will celebrate National Public Health Week with a series of community events from April 6 to April 10.

The initiative aims to highlight the role of public health and connect residents with available health services. The scheduled activities include a Community Partner & Stakeholder Roundtable, an educational Facebook Live session, a Know Your Numbers event, and an open house and health fair at the Health Department.

The week begins with the Community Partner & Stakeholder Roundtable on Tuesday, April 7 at the MLK Center. This meeting will gather local partners to review public health trends and discuss collaboration opportunities. On Wednesday, April 8, a Facebook Live event titled ‘Public Health 101’ will introduce viewers to the functions of public health and answer questions from the community. Thursday’s Know Your Numbers event provides free checks for basic health indicators such as blood pressure and diabetes at the Health Department location on West Illinois Avenue.

The celebration concludes Friday, April 10 with an open house and health fair at the Midland Health Department from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., offering residents information about department programs and services through program stations and partner booths.
