Midland ISD is inviting high school juniors interested in medicine and health sciences to apply for a prestigious summer opportunity through its expanded partnership with Baylor College of Medicine.
According to a news release, eight students from Midland ISD will be selected to participate in the BCM Doc-Prep Program. This competitive, no-cost, weeklong experience takes place on Baylor’s campus in Houston from June 21–26. The program offers hands-on learning, interactive sessions, and exposure to real medical environments alongside Baylor medical students, faculty, and healthcare professionals. It is designed as an early career exploration experience, providing participants with a firsthand look at life on a medical school campus and various healthcare pathways.
Eligible applicants must be current 11th-grade students who rank in the top 25% of their class. They should demonstrate a strong interest in medicine or health sciences and be enrolled and in good standing at either Midland High School or Legacy High School. Applications are due by February 27 and must be submitted through Baylor College of Medicine’s Doc-Prep application portal.
The Doc-Prep Program is part of Midland ISD’s STEM+M initiative—Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Medicine—which connects rigorous academics with real-world learning experiences aligned to medical careers. The opportunity is made possible through support from the Scharbauer Foundation.
