Midland Independent School District announced on April 1 that enrollment is now open for the 2026-27 school year. The process is available to all students, including those applying for pre-kindergarten, starting kindergarten, new students to the district, and all returning students.

The announcement is important as it marks the beginning of preparations for the upcoming academic year and ensures that families have time to complete necessary forms. Returning students are required to re-enroll using their Skyward Family Access account.

Families can begin enrollment by visiting midlandisd.net/enroll. The website serves as a portal with tools designed to make the process straightforward. Adrian Garcia, Director of Student Information Systems, said, “We continue to make adjustments in an effort to make the process as easy as possible for parents. It is essential that parents complete these online forms, so the district has the most current information for every student. To assist with this, we have easy-to-follow instructions to keep the process simple.”

The enrollment site includes step-by-step instructions and a built-in Google translator so families can navigate in their preferred language. Applications may be completed on smartphones; however, using a tablet or computer may help families more easily read and fill out forms. Computer stations are also available at campuses if assistance is needed.

Choice School applications remain open throughout the year without closing dates. Students living outside Midland ISD boundaries—especially those north of Lone Star Trails neighborhood—are eligible to apply but must provide attendance records, discipline records, and proof of residency outside MISD boundaries when seeking an Out-of-District transfer. Placement will be determined by available space rather than specific campus requests; transfers may be revoked if attendance or discipline requirements are not met.

Pre-K applications are now being accepted online through Avela; parents no longer need campus visits since documents can be uploaded digitally. Kindergarten Roundup and Pre-K Roundup events are scheduled throughout April and May.

For further questions about enrollment or application processes, parents are encouraged to contact their respective campuses.
