Midland Independent School District (ISD) leaders joined the Midland Council Parent Teacher Association (PTA) this week to celebrate community partnerships and rally support for the organization’s ambitious new membership goal.

According to a district Facebook post, during the council’s recent meeting, district officials highlighted the importance of collaboration among parents, educators, and community members in strengthening local schools. The PTA’s goal for this school year is to reach 7,500 memberships districtwide — a milestone leaders say reflects the growing spirit of involvement across Midland ISD.

District officials emphasized that joining the PTA is one of the easiest ways to make a difference for students and educators. Membership is open to anyone, including parents, grandparents, business owners, and community advocates, regardless of whether they have children enrolled in the district. According to the organization’s website, several levels of membership are available, including individual and business partnership options designed to connect community members directly with schools.

The Midland Council PTA has experienced a steady increase in engagement in recent years. The Midland Times previously reported that the organization ended the previous school year with 6,544 members — its highest level of involvement in more than a decade. The PTA surpassed its goal of 6,000 members as early as January, later growing to 6,283 members in March before closing the academic year with its record total.

With more than 29,000 students served across the district, Midland ISD leaders express optimism that this momentum will continue. “Joining PTA is one of the easiest ways to make a difference for students and educators,” said a statement from the district. “Let’s reach that 7,500 together.”
