Midland ISD student-athletes from Legacy High School, Midland High School, and Young Women’s Leadership Academy celebrated a major milestone as they signed to continue their academic and athletic careers at the collegiate level.
According to Superintendent Dr. Stephanie Howard, who recognized the signees on X, these students have shown dedication both in the classroom and in competition as they prepare for the next stage of their journeys. Legacy High School led with 12 student-athletes signing across multiple sports. Meanwhile, Midland High added five Bulldogs to the list of college-bound athletes. Among those from Midland High were Malyah Carillo, who will play softball at Western Texas College; Alejandro Sanchez, who signed to play golf at the University of Providence; and baseball standouts TJ Schlaffer and Trace McCoy, both headed to Hardin-Simmons University. Lincoln Reinke also signed to continue his baseball career at North Central Texas College.
Midland High School Baseball held a signing celebration in the school gym to honor Schlaffer, McCoy, and Reinke, recognizing their commitment to competing at the next level. The trio played key roles for the Bulldogs and will now represent Midland High as they move on to collegiate programs.
Young Women’s Leadership Academy also celebrated success in swimming, with Cora Retzer signing with Austin College and Harper Diaz committing to Ouachita Baptist University. Howard praised all of the signees, noting that their accomplishments reflect the strength of Midland ISD’s athletic programs and the support of coaches, families, and schools across the district.
