The Midland Police Department closed the registration window for its first R.A.D. class of the year in February.
According to authorities, a Facebook post on Tuesday announced that the class had reached its capacity of 12 participants. Despite the closure of registration for this month’s class, the department indicated there would be additional self-defense classes and other program opportunities available throughout the year.
The free course, designed exclusively for women, will take place at the police department from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. over four days: February 10, 12, 17, and 19. The program covers various topics including decision-making in resistance situations, basic self-defense principles, striking techniques, and both offensive and defensive postures.
Participants will also have the chance to engage in real-life scenario practice while wearing protective gear against simulated attackers. The program is open to women aged 17 and older.
