The Midland Police Department responded to a purported suicide in the 1100 block of Delmar Street on Friday.

The case is significant due to the circumstances surrounding the deaths and the ongoing investigation by local law enforcement. The discovery was made after a woman called 911 upon arriving at the residence following a distressed phone call from her son. She reportedly found him unresponsive, according to a Facebook post by Midland police.

Police said that officers subsequently went to the home and discovered both a man and a woman deceased. The woman lived at the residence, but the man did not, authorities said. “Both subjects were found to have gunshot wounds, with the male subject’s having been self-inflicted,” Midland Police Department said in their statement on Facebook.

Authorities identified the man as 21-year-old Armoni Loya and the woman as 20-year-old Alahna Ganann. No other persons were in the residence at the time, police said. “If you or someone you know is in crisis, call or text the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline at 988. This service is free, confidential, and available 24/7,” Midland Police Department said in their Facebook post.

The investigation remains ongoing as police continue to gather information about what led up to the incident.
