The Midland Soup Kitchen Ministry is seeking prayers for Jason Ivy, one of its leaders, after he was hospitalized on Friday.
According to a Facebook post by the ministry, Ivy, who is the husband of Nancy Ivy—whose parents founded the faith-based nonprofit organization in 1984—developed a high fever after a lunch service and later reported experiencing a tight and heavy chest at SignatureCare. Scans revealed multiple blood clots in both his lungs and legs, leading to his transport to Medical Center Hospital in Odessa according to the ministry’s Facebook post.
The ministry said that Ivy was ordered confined to the hospital. “Ivy’s heart bore no strain and is currently under observation. That is one positive,” Midland Soup Kitchen Ministry said. “They will continue monitoring his heart to make sure the clots are not affecting any functions. If that remains the case we should be discharged soon to continue dissolving medications at home” according to the same Facebook post.
The ministry also quoted Jeremiah 30:17 as an expression of hope for Ivy’s recovery. This marks the second time this year that a member of the immediate Ivy family has experienced a health episode requiring hospitalization. In January, Ivy’s son Nathen underwent an important heart procedure. Nathen, along with his brother Jay Anthony, assists their parents in managing the ministry according to the ministry’s Facebook post.
