Midland Soup Kitchen Ministry recognizes Sheriff David Criner

The Midland Soup Kitchen Ministry recognized Midland County Sheriff David Criner last week for his consistent assistance at its facility.

The recognition highlights the sheriff’s ongoing volunteer work and the impact of community engagement. The faith-based nonprofit organization honored Criner in a Facebook post Tuesday. The sheriff volunteers every month accompanied by his wife, according to the ministry <a href="https://www.facebook.com/MidlandSoupKitchenMinistry/posts/pfbid02vRvZPpzqPe8SinPWw7BE1yHc4dhPU3W4NP8KjZKdcMr3DbU2ZKMfxfSwggoNTBaGl”>according to the ministry.

The organization, which was founded by Mariano Rendon Sr. and Mary Rendon in 1984, expressed gratitude for Criner’s service. “It means more than words can express to the individuals and families we serve to have that one-on-one connection with their sheriff,” MSKM said. “Moments like these build trust, encouragement, and a true sense of community,” MSKM saidaccording to the ministry.

A native of the Permian Basin, Criner has led the Midland County Sheriff’s Office since 2020. His professional background includes work with the MCSO and the Texas Department of Public Safety. Criner graduated from the University of Texas Permian Basin with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. He has been married to his wife, Judy, for more than 40 years, according to the county <a href="https://www.facebook.com/MidlandSoupKitchenMinistry/posts/pfbid02vRvZPpzqPe8SinPWw7BE1yHc4dhPU3W4NP8KjZKdcMr3DbU2ZKMfxfSwggoNTBaGl”>according to the county.

Last month, Gov. Greg Abbott named Criner to the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement, the regulatory agency responsible for establishing and enforcing standards for law enforcement officers in the state. Criner’s term is set to expire Aug. 30, 2031 according to Midland County.
