Midland YMCA CEO advocates in Washington

Midland YMCA CEO Christine Bearden visited Washington, D.C. Tuesday to speak with lawmakers on the nonprofit organization’s work.

Bearden’s visit focused on advocating for policies that support local families and youth development. The discussions aimed to highlight how national policy decisions affect communities at home.

Bearden recapped her experience in a Facebook post. She said that her day consisted of mostly meetings in which the dialogue was successful… “The policies being shaped here impact real families, real children and real communities back home. I’m proud to use my voice and experience to help move this work forward,” she said according to Bearden.

According to Bearden, she is grateful for the opportunity to represent the YMCA, which she described as “something I care so deeply about.”… “What a great day,” she said according to Bearden.

Prior to joining the Midland YMCA first as its senior program director in 2003, Bearden worked for the Lake Highlands Family YMCA in North Texas. She is a 1998 Texas Tech graduate according to her LinkedIn profile.
