The Midland YMCA is mourning the loss of Megan Johnson, one of its instructors who died March 23.

Johnson was remembered by the Midland YMCA for her positive influence and dedication to the community. The organization said she was “someone who made everyone feel belonged.” According to the YMCA, “Megan was strong — not just physically, but in spirit. She carried a never-give-up attitude that inspired everyone around her to keep going, even when it was hard.” Johnson was 44 years old at the time of her death according to a Facebook post by the Midland YMCA.

The nonprofit organization said Johnson’s approach and attitude were evident in her classes. “She pushed you to go further than you thought possible — one more rep, one more push, and yes… one more burpee,” the YMCA said. The organization also noted that Johnson built numerous connections within the Midland community. “Her impact reached far beyond our walls and deep into the heart of our Midland community,” the YMCA said according to its Facebook post.

Johnson was born Oct. 31, 1981, in Midland. She is survived by her husband and their three sons. Sunset Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home handled her funeral arrangements according to Sunset Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.
