The No. 4-ranked Midland College Chaparrals baseball continued its strong start to the 2026 season by sweeping Frank Phillips College Plainsmen baseball in a four-game conference series at Christensen Stadium, improving to 18-2 overall and 4-0 in conference play.

According to a news release, Midland College opened the series Friday with an 11-1 run-rule victory in five innings behind strong offensive performances from Caleb Eager, Jorge Gil, and AJ Velarde. Sophomore pitcher Logan Flores earned the win on the mound, improving to 5-0 on the season. The Chaps continued their offensive momentum in the second game, collecting 13 hits in a 16-6 win that was also shortened to five innings. Velarde led the offense with two home runs and six RBIs, while Stevyn Andrachick and Cooper Kirkpatrick also contributed at the plate. Jason Berglund picked up the win to move to 2-0, with Alex Uher recording the final outs in relief according to a news release.

With the score tied in the bottom of the ninth, Bammer Maes reached base on a walk and eventually advanced to second. After Caleb Eager singled to right field, second baseman Stevyn Andrachick delivered the game-winning hit, driving in Maes with a two-out single to secure the sweep according to a news release.
Midland College will look to continue its early-season success when it hosts Amarillo College Badgers for another conference series at Christensen Stadium. The teams are scheduled for doubleheaders beginning at noon on Friday, March 13 and Saturday, March 14. Amarillo College enters with an overall record of 8-13 and is 1-3 in conference play after opening league action against Odessa College Wranglers according to a news release.
