Midland-based ProPetro Holding Corp. has announced a long-term contract through its PROPWR division to supply 60 megawatts of power to a major hyperscale data center operator in the Midwest.
According to a news release, this agreement represents a significant step in ProPetro’s expansion into the data infrastructure energy market and establishes a strategic relationship with one of the industry’s key data center players. To meet the power needs of the data center, PROPWR will implement a hybrid energy system that combines battery energy storage technology with high-efficiency natural gas reciprocating engine generators. Company officials say the system is designed to quickly respond to fluctuating energy demand and enhance grid reliability, providing consistent and resilient power to the facility.
The news release also noted that operations are scheduled to commence in the second quarter of 2026. This timeline, according to the company, positions it ahead of competitors in delivering scalable energy solutions. Company leaders emphasized that their experience in building and managing energy systems within the oil and gas sector contributed to shaping the turnkey power model for this project.
The agreement includes options for increasing capacity and extending the contract as the data center’s energy requirements grow. ProPetro expects to provide further updates on its PROPWR business in its third-quarter 2025 earnings report.
