The Railroad Commission of Texas has imposed more than $1 million in fines on operators and businesses for violations related to the state’s oil and gas industry. At its open meeting on Tuesday, the Commission assessed a total of $1,036,759 in enforcement docket penalties.
The Railroad Commission holds primary oversight and enforcement responsibilities for Texas’ oil and gas sector as well as intrastate pipeline safety.
Operators who did not appear at enforcement proceedings received Master Default Orders. Details about these orders are available on the RRC Hearings Division web page. Operators ordered to comply with Commission rules received Master Agreed Orders, which can be found on the RRC General Counsel web page.
According to the Commission, unless timely motions for rehearing are filed, “decisions are final as stated in these final orders.”
