The Midland RockHounds on Tuesday began the weeklong countdown to their 2026 season debut by awarding a fan with a free hat and a pair of tickets to the ballclub’s April 2 home opener against the Arkansas Travelers.

The event marks the start of several daily giveaways leading up to Opening Day, as the team prepares for its 54th season as a franchise in West Texas. The initiative aims to engage fans and build anticipation for the upcoming season.

According to the RockHounds, the winner of the team’s first ticket giveaway was Brady Peterson. Peterson appeared at Centennial Park in downtown Midland shortly after noon and was given the tickets and the hat by a staff member. The RockHounds filmed the presentation of the prizes to Peterson and shared the clip across their social media platforms. When asked how he felt about the prizes, Peterson said, “I feel good,” according to the RockHounds.

As Opening Day approaches, the RockHounds intend to have a prize giveaway for each day leading up to next Thursday. They’ll play their 54th season as a franchise in West Texas, according to <a href="https://www.facebook.com/midland.rockhounds”>the RockHounds.
