San Angelo Central triumphed over Midland High with a 34–27 victory on Saturday afternoon, following a weather delay that postponed the game from Friday night.

According to MaxPreps, the teams were tied at 17–17 at halftime. However, Central managed to pull ahead late in the game, improving their season record to 4–4. Meanwhile, Midland’s record fell to 2–6. Despite Midland’s reputation for a strong ground game, they were limited to 206 rushing yards. Quarterback Holt Howard led the Bulldogs with 102 yards on 11 carries. Although Midland achieved two runs exceeding 50 yards, Central’s defense held strong during crucial moments to secure the win.

This victory marks the second consecutive year that Central has won a district game delayed by weather conditions. Looking forward, Midland High (2–6, 1–2) will host a rivalry match against Midland Legacy on Friday at 7:30 p.m., where they may find opportunities against a Rebels defense allowing over 43 points per game.

San Angelo Central is set to travel to Odessa for a game against the Bronchos at 7 p.m., facing a defense that concedes nearly 47 points per contest—suggesting another potentially high-scoring encounter.
