A new state filing provides additional details on the planned Omni Midland Hotel, a large-scale downtown development expected to reshape the city’s hospitality and convention landscape.
The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) said the $126.36 million project involves new construction of a 143-room hotel and an accompanying parking garage with approximately 800 spaces at 300 W. Texas Ave. The development will total about 427,830 square feet. Construction is scheduled to begin on February 1, with completion targeted for December 31, 2027. State filings are preliminary and subject to change, according to TDLR.
Midland Hotel Santa Rita LLC is listed as the property owner, with Can Hord serving as the owner contact. Dallas-based HKS, Inc. is the design firm of record. The project is privately funded and registered as new construction on private land for private use, according to TDLR.
The filing builds on previously announced plans for the Omni Midland Hotel, a luxury convention hotel developed through a partnership between Omni Hotels & Resorts and Midland Downtown Renaissance LP. Earlier announcements outlined a full-service hotel featuring approximately 15,000 square feet of meeting space, a 7,000-square-foot ballroom, a spa, rooftop pool, lobby bar, and a Bob’s Steak & Chop House restaurant, according to Omni Hotels & Resorts.
City leaders have long envisioned a convention center hotel adjacent to the Barbara and George H.W. Bush Convention Center to support conferences and events in downtown Midland… Once completed, the Omni project is expected to strengthen the city’s meetings and tourism infrastructure while serving as a catalyst for continued economic development in the Permian Basin,” according to Omni Hotels & Resorts.
