State regulators have released preliminary oil and gas production figures for Texas for August 2025. According to the Texas Railroad Commission, data was collected from 157,458 oil wells and 84,131 gas wells across the state.
The commission noted that crude oil production statistics only include oil produced from oil leases and do not account for condensate, which is reported separately. The agency emphasized that these numbers are preliminary and may be updated as operators submit late or corrected reports.
More detailed statewide totals are available on the commission’s website at https://www.rrc.texas.gov/oil-and-gas/research-and-statistics/production-data/texas-monthly-oil-gas-production/. Rankings of county-level production can also be found at https://www.rrc.texas.gov/oil-and-gas/research-and-statistics/production-data/texas-monthly-oil-gas-production-by-county-ranking/.
The release includes tables ranking counties by crude oil, total gas (including gas well gas and casinghead), and condensate production for August 2025.
