Midland High’s varsity football game against San Angelo Central, initially scheduled for Friday night, has been postponed due to weather conditions.
According to an X post from Midland Independent School District Athletic Director Alfred Acosta Jr., the matchup will now be played on Saturday, October 25, at 2 p.m. at San Angelo Stadium.
The Bulldogs enter the rescheduled contest riding momentum after a 45-21 win over Odessa last week. Midland has scored 31 points or more in each of its previous four games, and the victory snapped a five-game home drought, improving the team to 2-5 this season. In MaxPreps’ statewide rankings, Midland holds an edge over several recent opponents, including Odessa.
San Angelo Central comes into the matchup at 3-4 after a narrow 35-27 loss to Permian. Despite outgaining the Panthers by 78 total yards, the Bobcats were unable to convert that advantage into points. Running back Zeyvion Johnson led Central’s offense with 138 rushing yards and a touchdown, while receiver Jimmy Edwards added 140 yards through the air.
MaxPreps noted that the teams last met in October 2024 when Midland claimed a high-scoring 56-47 win. This time, however, the Bulldogs will not have home-field advantage. Both programs will now turn their attention to Saturday afternoon, where weather will no longer be the opponent—but playoff positioning and pride will be.
