West Texas FC signed Barbadian center back Tyrique Bailey-Edwards to its 2026 roster Wednesday.
The addition of Bailey-Edwards is intended to strengthen the team’s defensive lineup. The club announced in a Facebook post that Bailey-Edwards is a native of Bridgetown, Barbados, and currently a junior at Union Commonwealth University, where he plays for the Bulldogs men’s soccer team.
Bailey-Edwards joins West Texas FC after leading Union to 16 clean sheets in 21 matches during the 2025 campaign. According to the club’s statement on Facebook, this achievement represents a defensive record across all college divisions in the United States. The club also said that Bailey-Edwards, who is a member of the Barbados National Team, was named Appalachian Athletic Conference Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year. He also earned All-Conference First Team and NAIA All-American honors.
“One of the most talented, hungry defenders in the country, we can’t wait to watch Bailey apply his trade,” West Texas FC said on Facebook.
Head coach Scotty Murray expressed support for the new signing. “He’s an elite, well-rounded defender, encompassing all the traits I’m looking for to be successful,” Murray said according to West Texas FC’s Facebook post.
